150+ scroll-stoppers for Meta & TikTok, plus the playbook that turns cheap views into delivered orders.
A hook is not a magic sentence — it is the opening idea that makes the right viewer feel the next scene matters. This vault gives you both halves of the craft: grab-and-go hook lines you can steal, translate to your product and shoot today, and the short playbook that makes those hooks actually stop the scroll and lead to sales — not just cheap views. The one rule of the whole file: only open a loop your video can honestly close.

1The truth about hooks
Four layers do the work of any opening: the angle (the reason to care, e.g. easy cleanup), the hook (how the angle opens — “the demo is easy, but what about the cleanup?”), the body (how the ad proves it — disassemble, rinse, show the real steps honestly), and the close (the next action — “COD available, WhatsApp to order”).
A dramatic opening that pulls the WRONG people, misrepresents the product, or doesn’t connect to the body is a weak hook — even if it racks up views. Cheap views with no sales is the most common beginner trap. The fulfilment rule: the bigger the opening promise, the more clearly the body must prove it. A hook can’t rescue a video with no proof.
A complete opening is three moves — SHOW a clear first visual, SAY/TEXT one short relevant line, and CONTINUE so the next scene keeps the promise. Example — SHOW: a drawer won’t close. SAY: “Aapko bara drawer nahi chahiye.” TEXT: “Fixed trays waste space.” CONTINUE: demo the adjustable dividers filling the same drawer.
2Hook rate: the one number that matters
Everything in a video depends on whether people stay past the first few seconds. That’s the hook rate. Learn to read it before you judge anything else.
| What it means | Weak | Okay | Strong |
|---|---|---|---|
| % who don’t instantly scroll | < 20% | 20–30% | > 30% |
| % still watching at 6s | < 10% | 10–20% | > 20% |
| How far they get | < 25% | 25–50% | > 50% |
Low hook rate = the first frame failed (fix Part 3). Good hook rate but people drop by 6s = the hook wrote a cheque the body didn’t cash (fix the fulfilment). High watch time but no sales = wrong audience or weak offer, not the hook. Never crown a hook on views alone — the scoreboard is qualified WhatsApp messages, orders, and for COD the delivered rate.
3First-frame craft: stop the thumb in 0.5s
On For-You / Reels the decision to stay happens before your first sentence finishes. Frame one must earn frame two. Pull these levers: text on screen in the first 0.5s (a 3–6 word promise/question — most people scroll with sound off); motion or a fast zoom on the opening frame (start mid-action, not on a logo); a pattern interrupt (an unexpected object, result or statement that doesn’t look like an ad); a human face or hands entering frame; result first (show the finished slice / smooth hair / clean surface, then rewind to how); bright, uncluttered contrast with the subject large and centred; and sound — a trending audio or crisp spoken first line.
(1) What is on screen in second one? (2) What words appear in second one? (3) What sound plays in second one? If you can’t answer all three, you don’t have a hook yet — you have footage.
4Choose the hook by its job
Don’t pick a hook by taste. Pick it by what the customer needs to feel next — which depends on how aware they already are.
| If the customer needs to… | Start with… | Example opening |
|---|---|---|
| Notice a familiar frustration | Problem / use-case | Show the [problem] happening in real life. |
| Imagine a better moment | Desired result / routine | Show the outcome in a real daily scene. |
| Believe it works | Demonstration / mechanism | Show the result first, then the process. |
| Understand something new | Education / curiosity | “[Category] kharidne se pehle ye janlein…” |
| Remove a doubt | Proof / objection | “Ye raha [feature] real light mein.” |
| Act on a warm decision | Offer / trust / process | Show the exact bundle, deadline or COD flow. |
Cold traffic is mostly problem-aware or just scrolling — lead with a problem-in-motion or a wow demo. Retargeting is product-aware — lead with objections, proof and the offer. Same product, different hook, because the customer moved.
Problem/callout hooks are fine UNTIL the niche is sensitive (skin, hair loss, weight, health, money). Meta bans hooks that imply you know something private about the viewer. Fix by naming the situation, not the person: “Are YOU struggling with acne?” → “Dark spots ka simple solution”; “Kya AAP mote hain?” → “Ye kitchen swap calories kam karta hai”; “Losing your hair?” → “Patli hair-line ke liye ye routine dekhein”.
5The verbal hook bank (10 triggers)
The Library core. Steal a line, swap in your product, and make sure your video can pay it off. Pick the trigger that fits your angle.

6TikTok-native format hooks
These aren’t lines — they’re opening formats that feel like organic TikTok, so the algorithm and the viewer don’t flag them as ads. Best for cold, top-of-funnel reach.
| Format | How it opens | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| POV | “POV: [relatable moment]” + instant product-in-use | Impulse / relatable products |
| Wait for it | Tease a payoff, deliver at the end | Satisfying demos, transformations |
| Things I wish I knew | “Things I wish I knew before [situation]” | Education / considered buys |
| Nobody tells you | “Nobody tells you this about [category]” | Curiosity, myth-busting |
| Green-screen react | You react over a product/screenshot/review | Proof, storytelling, trends |
| Reply-to-comment | “Reply to @user: yes it really…” | Objection handling, social proof |
| Stitch / duet style | Open on a claim, then answer it | Debate, comparison |
| Day-in-the-life / restock | “Come with me to pack orders” | Trust, brand, behind-the-scenes |
| Text-story | Fast on-screen text story, product reveal | Storytelling, low-budget |
| Unboxing-first | Hands + product reveal in frame one | Curiosity, quality show |
A trending sound can carry the hook for you. Check the Creative Center / For-You daily, film your product into the current format while it’s hot, and post fast. A native format on a trending sound out-hooks a polished ad almost every time on TikTok PK.
7First-frame / visual hook types
Twenty ways to open on screen. Pair any of these visuals with a line from Part 5: result-first (finished outcome shown), extreme close-up (texture/detail), before/after split screen, problem happening in real life, fast zoom/punch-in on frame one, hands entering to use the product, unboxing reveal, satisfying action mid-motion, face-to-camera bold statement, price/number on screen instantly, product vs alternative side-by-side, a “wait for it” tease frame, screenshot/review on greenscreen, POV first-person angle, messy → clean transformation, surprising scale reveal, pointing/arrow to a detail, and a text-only bold question then reveal.
86 curated hook families (Show / Say / Body)
Full worked openings with the body continuation built in — so the promise gets paid off. Adapt facts; never copy unverified claims.
① Problem & use-case
| Show | Say / on-screen | Body continuation |
|---|---|---|
| Drawer won’t close | “Bara drawer nahi — better use chahiye” | Adjustable dividers fit the same drawer |
| Cable falls behind desk | “Rozana yehi hota hai?” | Install holder, show normal use |
| Slouching at a laptop | “8 ghante baith ke kamar kharab” | Wear belt, show upright posture + comfort |
| Phone slides off dashboard | “Har mod par phone gir jata hai” | Mount clicks in, phone stays through a turn |
| Kitchen smell lingers | “Mehmaan aane se pehle smell?” | Spray/diffuser, show fresh room honestly |
Family tip: shoot the problem in a real Pakistani setting (kitchen, bike, load-shedding) — authenticity beats studio here.
② Desired result & routine
| Product | Show | Say / on-screen | Body continuation |
|---|---|---|---|
| Abaya / dress | Outfit moves at a family lunch | “Comfortable bhi, decent bhi” | Show fabric, cut, real measurements |
| Skincare | Morning 2-min routine | “Subah 2 minute, saara din fresh” | Apply, show finish; no cure claims |
| Kids item | Child eats without mess | “Ammi ka time bachao” | Demo use + easy cleanup |
| Watch | Watch under a clean cuff | “Simple outfit ko finish kare” | Case size on two wrists |
| Gift set | Note enters a gift box | “Gift jo socha lage” | Show selection, note, packaging |
Family tip: sell the moment, not the spec — a real daily scene converts better than a feature list.
③ Demonstration & mechanism
| Product | Show | Say / on-screen | Body continuation |
|---|---|---|---|
| Slicer | Even slices appear first | “Result — aur safe setup” | Show holder, blade, full process |
| Blender | Blends inside the travel cup | “Cup mein hi ban gaya” | Show capacity, lid, cleanup |

| Beauty device | Frizz → smooth in seconds | “2 minute mein farq” | Show real before/after, honest steps |
| Storage | Divider expands to width | “Isi liye har layout mein fit” | Install within the stated range |
Family tip: result FIRST, then rewind to the process — curiosity plus proof in one open.
④ Education & curiosity
| Product | Show | Say / on-screen | Body continuation |
|---|---|---|---|
| Perfume | 3 blotters: 0 / 30m / 3h | “Scent 30 second mein mat judge karo” | Explain top/heart/base honestly |

| Kitchen | Measuring outside a cabinet | “Ye measurement galat fit deti hai” | Show the correct inside-width method |
| Supplement* | Label held to camera | “Kharidne se pehle ye 2 cheezein check karein” | Explain usage; NO cure/result claims |
| Gadget | Final cut, attachment hidden | “Kaunse blade ne ye banaya?” | Reveal and demo each attachment |
Family tip: great for retargeting and considered buys — position yourself as the honest expert.
⑤ Proof & objection
| Product | Show | Say / on-screen | Body continuation |
|---|---|---|---|
| Clothing | “See-through to nahi?” | “Ye raha fabric direct light mein” | Show real material, no filters |
| Watch | Caliper measures case | “38 mm asal mein aisa lagta hai” | Show strap range + two wrists |
| COD product | Every part leaves the box | “Ye milega — aur ye nahi” | Label each part + accessory |
| Electronics | Product runs on camera | “Chal ke dikha raha hoon” | Live demo, warranty terms |
| Beauty | Swatch on real skin tone | “Real skin par shade” | Show range honestly |
Family tip: answer the ONE question your DMs ask most — that’s your highest-converting hook.
⑥ Offer, trust & process
| Product | Show | Say / on-screen | Body continuation |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bundle | 3 items + free add-on | “Teen chunein; agla test karein” | Show inclusions, price, real end date |
| Deadline | Calendar by the packing desk | “Eid se pehle order cut-off” | Explain the real fulfilment reason |
| COD | Order → confirm → dispatch → track | “Order ke baad ye hota hai” | Show the actual workflow |
| Height + fit message appears | “Size confused? Ye 2 cheezein bhejein” | Show how guidance uses measurements | |
| Price filter | Verified price on screen | “Budget mein hai to details dekhein” | Show product, policy, next step |
Never fake a deadline or stock number — this family is where dishonesty gets caught. And for health/supplement niches, results and cure claims are restricted on Meta/TikTok: educate and show usage, never promise an outcome.
9Roman-Urdu spoken-hook bank
For talking-head / UGC TikToks where you SAY the first line to camera. Keep them true to the product.
Scroll-stoppers (say in the first 2 seconds)
“Ruk jao — ye dekhe bina scroll mat karo.” · “Main hairaan reh gaya jab ye [Rs price] ka nikla.” · “Agar aapke ghar mein bhi [masla] hai to ye video aapke liye hai.” · “Ye cheez maine try ki — aur ab wapas nahi kar sakta.” · “Sach batao — [masla] kitni dafa hua hai?” · “Ye [product] har [audience] ke paas hona chahiye. Wajah dekhein.” · “Sab se zyada log mujhe isi ke baare mein pooch rahe hain.” · “10 second do — aur ye [product] samajh aa jayega.”
Curiosity / reveal openers
“Isay banane wale ne ye kyun nahi bataya?” · “Guess karo ye kitne ka hai — comment mein.” · “Ye [product] [mehngi cheez] ka kaam karta hai, aadhi qeemat mein.” · “Aakhir tak ruko — end pe surprise hai.” · “Ye galti main ne bhi ki thi — aap mat karna.”
Trust / COD openers (warm audience)
“Online order se darte ho? Cash on Delivery hai — tension nahi.” · “Order ke baad exactly ye hota hai — dekhein.” · “Size confused ho to WhatsApp par height aur fit bhej dein.” · “Pasand na aaye to [X] din mein return — simple.”
Say it like you’d say it to a friend — over-acted “TV ad” Urdu kills trust on TikTok. And don’t force Roman Urdu onto a premium/international brand; match the language to the real audience and brand position.
10Meta vs TikTok: same idea, right expression
| Decision | Meta (FB/IG) | TikTok |
|---|---|---|
| Opening | Visual + first primary-text line carry the idea. | First moments carry it via motion, speech, sound, text. |
| Text | Primary text can add context, mechanism, proof. | On-screen text stays short; the video argues. |
| Style | Polished brand, creator, demo, image or carousel all work. | Raw, native, 9:16, natural speech, trend pacing. |
| Variation | Diversify concepts & angles — not just headlines. | Test native openings; keep the underlying insight. |
| Close | Headline, CTA and landing page must continue the promise. | Close feels like the story’s end, not an interruption. |
Mobile production check: keep face, product & key text away from UI-covered edges (top ~15%, bottom ~20%); one short on-screen message at a time; caption meaningful speech accurately; show the product or situation early; use audio you have the right to use.
11Test & diagnose hooks
When you test the OPENING, keep the product, angle, body, offer and CTA the same — change only the first few seconds. Otherwise you learn nothing.
Film ONE good body video. Then cut 3–5 different first-3-second openings onto the SAME body (a POV, a result-first, a question, a warning, a demo). Run them as separate ads. Because only the hook changes, the winner is unmistakable — and you keep the winning opening on the same proven body. This one tactic is how pros find scroll-stoppers fast.
| Symptom | What it means | Next action |
|---|---|---|
| Invisible | People skip instantly. | Fix the first FRAME — visual, text, motion, sound. |
| Unclear | They look but don’t get it. | Simplify the frame + one short message. |
| Unfulfilled | Good hook rate, drop by 6s. | Make the next scene answer the hook sooner. |
| Wrong audience | Views up, order quality down. | Pre-qualify with situation, price or product truth. |
| Overpromised | Clicks up, sales/returns/trust suffer. | Reduce the claim; strengthen honest proof. |
Hook fatigue & your pipeline: TikTok hooks fatigue fast — often in 7–14 days. Rising cost-per-result on a once-good ad = fatigue, not a broken product. Keep a pipeline: aim for 3–5 fresh hooks a week on your winning products. The account with more good hooks wins, not the one with more budget. Re-use winning bodies with new openings before scrapping the whole video.
Never declare a hook the winner from views alone. Track downstream: qualified WhatsApp messages, orders, COD delivered rate, returns, and profit. A viral hook with a 40% delivered rate still loses money.

Check current Meta/TikTok rules for personal attributes, misleading claims, comparisons, before/after, regulated categories (health, supplements, weight), landing-page consistency, audio rights and IP. Policies change — verify, don’t assume. Reject any AI-drafted hook that invents a fact, uses shame or fear, shows a visual and line that disagree, can’t be fulfilled by the body, or is just one idea reworded.
Don’t aim for the loudest opening. Aim for the clearest relevant promise your creative can honestly keep — then make it impossible to scroll past in frame one.
